The Laboratory of Aquatic Pathobiology (LAP) is heading the Danish Fish Immunology Research Centre and Network (DAFINET). This laboratory  conducts research in diagnostics of aquatic pathogens and immunity development in connection with infections and vaccination, including the use of recombinant vaccines, and their effects on the immune system.

One particular research area includes the correlation between the innate immune components and resistance against bacterial and parasitic pathogens (genetic selection of disease-resistant fish).

LAP also conducts research into zoonotic parasites in molluscs (trichobilharziose), fish (anisakidose), birds (trichobilharziose, cryptocotylose), and marine mammals (flukes, tapeworms, nematodes).
